Microcid

Microcid is a balanced formulation based on potassium sorbate and antioxidant principles, acting synergycally and granting the maximum protection towards the microbial alterations and oxidations of partially fermented grape musts, wines and special wines.

This preparation with a complex poly-functional composition, substitutes the sterilizing filtration or pasteurization and represents the easier treatment to be carried out to treat wines displaying a concentration in unfermented sugars that may facilitate the microbial development.

The potassium sorbate is the active principle the most applied in wines as a fungicide, it inhibits the refermentation of musts and wines containing residual sugars, as it inactivates a wide range of yeasts. Thanks to its balanced structure, Microcid stabilizes the free SO2 at high and constant concentrations and carries out a total inhibiting action towards lactic bacteria, responsible for the metabolization of sorbic acid. Thanks to its particular formulation, it hinders the formation of geraniol in wines and the subsequent anomalous smell of geranium.

This specific agent displays a reductive component preventing oxidative phenomena, able to compromise the wine final quality, and prevents the increase of volatile acidity and flor appearance.

Microcid protects and keeps unaltered the best wine sensorial characteristics, maintains taste freshness and fruity notes, highlights fineness and bouquet intensity. Thanks to the utilization of Microcid, biologic and sensorial stability are maintained during time, even under difficult storage conditions.

It is suggested to carry out the dosage and the following treatment with Microcid just before bottling and to be sure that the malolactic stability has been attained.
